Waking Rested

When I wake each morning and before I move I take a moment to feel:
Am I rested and ready for the day?
How did I sleep?
These questions reveal so much about my way of being the day before. How I spoke, If I truly listened to others and whether I pushed my body beyond its capacity.
How did I wind down at the end of the day?
Was I so exhausted from the sum total of all my movements that I just crashed into bed?
If I slept well and woke feeling energised I know yesterday was lived and moved in harmony and my preparations for sleep were supportive. If I wake feeling tired and not having slept well its time to consider what I did yesterday.
To look at everything and observe the moments of disharmony and then commit today to moving in a way that honours my body and also all others.
Today and everyday its important to care about the foods I eat, to rest when needed and encourage others to do the same and when I observe overriding or pushing to do too much, to stop.
At the end of the day its beautiful to prepare for sleep and I know this is something in the past I have taken very much for granted, go to bed close eyes and sleep. How about winding down, some gentle music rather than screen time, a bath or shower and some moisturiser lovingly massaged into my body.
Preparing for sleep in this way supports me to really relax ready for a deep and restful night and assures I wake refreshed with energy for all the day will bring.
Its so easy to get caught up in the rush and tear of life and forget that our body is with us our whole life.
Taking care of it every day will support to maintain its well being, into our elder years, a worthwhile investment in ourselves and to be a role model for those around us who also get caught up in daily life.
